Hounslow Community Foodbox
FoodBox volunteers Trish Dominy and Danielle Elston were Hollywood Heroes for Brentford's match against Liverpool on 25 September 2021
Danielle and I were lucky enough to see Brentford's outstanding performance against Liverpool on Saturday, I am still on a high after such an amazing experience!
From the moment we arrived at the ground we were greeted so warmly by Neula Hanley, EA to the CEO, who explained where we needed to go and talked through the itinerary for the day. We headed to the boardroom and were immediately welcomed by Cliff Crown, Brentford Chairman, who was so complimentary about Hounslow Foodbox and could not have made us feel more at ease. After being treated to a delicious three course meal Cliff made a short speech to all guests where he highlighted the work that we do and the whole room erupted into applause, it made us feel very special and really highlighted the Charity's activity to all present. I only wish all of our hard working volunteers could have experienced that moment!
The game itself could not have been any better. The atmosphere was incredible, Brentford fans were singing loud and proud and it wasn't long before we started to lose our voices. The Bees played bravely and met Liverpool 'toe to toe' with chances and goals, a 3-3 draw felt like a huge win to Brentford who were the definite underdogs before the game. The players are very deservedly 'at home' in the Premier League and the whole game felt like such a community effort.
After the game Nity Raj, a Brentford Director, very kindly arranged for us to take the Championship Playoff Final Trophy outside and was also our personal photographer!
We feel so lucky to have enjoyed this experience and only wish we could have shared it with all volunteers.
with best wishes, Trish
