Hounslow mayor’s dinner raises more than £6,500 for two charities

Hounslow’s mayor has thanked guests after raising more than £6,500 for her two chosen charities at a ceremonial dinner.

More than 350 guests attended the annual function held at Hounslow Civic Centre last Saturday (July 19).

A total of £6,622.90 was raised through donations on the night, which will be split between Hounslow Community FoodBox and the London Wildlife Trust.

The guests of honour included Hounslow’s deputy lieutenant Maria Pedro, the mayors of neighbouring boroughs and Chelsea Pensioners Patrick Cody, John Denton, Harry Puttick BEM and Marjorie Cole.

Cllr.Corinna Smart said: “It was a wonderful evening for everyone who attended, and also for the charities I am supporting. The money raised will go  towards helping these important causes, and I’m immensely grateful to everyone for their generosity.”

Ms Smart was recently among the guests at a dinner thrown by young people at The Docking Station, in Brentford, which raised £390 for her chosen charities.
