FoodBox partners with LBH Benefits & Revenues

Monday 10 November signals the beginning of a new six month contract between the Hounslow Community FoodBox and the Benefits and Revenues team at the London Borough of Hounslow.  This is an innovative new service where local residents awaiting their benefits being processed by the council will be provided with food from FoodBox. This means that instead of receiving shop vouchers they will receive actual food supplies.   A service level agreement  with specific performance monitoring has been put in place to ensure the service meets the needs of the Council and users of the service.

Councillor Katherine Dunne Treasurer of the Hounslow Community FoodBox says, “The FoodBox Management Committee are delighted with this new partnership and will be seeking feedback from all users to ensure that the procedures put in place work well and deliver the service that those in need deserve. We would like to thank the Benefits and Revenues team for having the confidence and trust in our ability to deliver this service and for making the set so easy.”

Oonah Lacey, Project Advisor for FoodBox says “As far as we have been able to confirm this is the first partnership of this sort operating in London, and we have developed a secure on-line referral process that will ensure that the Council can access the service quickly and easily, as well as being able to collect important performance information to help with informing local policy. Hounslow Council Benefit and Revenues service are a great team to work with and we are looking forward to providing this new service that will see about 50 additional weekly requests being handled by FoodBox. This is a very exciting time for us all and the team are delighted to be leading on this new service.”
